Hou Wing Hong, dec. ds:- I am a coffee bar assistant in the
N.A.A.F.I Canteen in Murray Barracks. On the afternoon of 22nd
June I was smoking at the back door of the Canteen between 3.15
3.20 p.m. I saw a number of people shouting on the bridge above.
I ran down and looked into the nullah. I saw an European girl
being washed down the nullah. I noticed two people underneath
the bridge up-stream. Then I jumped into the nullah. I threw
my arms round the girl but I was swept off my feet by the current.
I scrambled up partially after being washed down a little over a
cheung, and tried to get to my feet. I still held the girl.
European jumped down to try and rescue us but he was washed down
I again lost my footing completely and the girl slipped out
of my grasp and we were both washed down.

of the little girl just before she went into the tunnel. I was
again swept off my feet and went down the nullah holding the
girl. When I got to the window in the tunnel I manage to get
to my feet again still holding the girl and I carried her to the
side. Two people were then washed down by my feet. The little
girl called out "My brother" and I realized one was a little
European boy. I don't know who the other one was. I put the girl
down on the dry side. She stood and I ran down after the other
two but it was too dark and I could not see them. I passed the
lower window but then I could not see my more. I passed two
