after the boy, I saw a little girl come down and a Chinese
male behind her. It looked to me as though he was saving her
he was so near to her. I got the impression he was trying
to save her because he was so close. Then I saw the Chinese
washed up against the side wall and fall back into the water.
Then I lost sight of him.

I moved round and then I saw a little boy not the one I had
seen in a coolie's arms. It was not the same Chinese as I
saw in the nullah. Later I saw the little girl in a soldier's
arms

I then went down Murray Path with Mrs. Vincent. There were some
soldiers at the entrance to the tunnel and I stopped to look
I saw a Chinese male being brought out of the tunnel. I said
at once, "That's the man who was behind the little girl."
(Mr. Lim objects to the remark as inadmissable.)
That man looks like that one points to spectator.) I cannot
be sure I can't identify him now. I could not be sure if
it was deft or not. I was quite sure on that day that the man
brought out the tunnel was the man who went down the nullah
behind the little girl.
X X Mr. Lim. I recognised him by his dress. He was full in
the face. He had high checkbones. After the whole business
I went on shopping.
I went immediately after. I think that
the Chinese had a nasty bang on his side when he was washed
against the wall of the nullah. I could not say if he could
have scrambled out of the water then or not. I saw nobody
get out of the water. He was coming down the nullah in a
sitting position with apparently one hand on the bottom.
I don't know where Mrs. Vincent was.
Re-ex. Mr. Fraser. The top of the man's dress was white and the
bottom dark, the trousers were up above his knees. Immediately
after I remained with Mrs. Vincent, we went from Murray Path to
