Murder
from yesterday.
At 9.30 a.m. the accused in custody with interpreter, counsel, and solicitors, for Crown and for accused, all members of jury and myself, met at lower Station of Peak Tramway Station and inspected all relevant points between No.1 Bridge and the entrance to the tunnel.
At 11 a.m.
Accused present in custody. Appearances as before .
Jurors all present and answer to names.

Wife of Thomas Henry Joseph Pine living with him at No.4 B. Military quarters Kennedy Road.
Mother of Mary Pine who was 8 last May.
Michael was her twin brother.
On 22nd June I went out about 2.57 p.m.
I was going down to the N.A.A.F.I. in Murray Barracks.
I stfated alone but when I was half way there three little boys overtook me,
Michael, Norman Stone and Tony Flood.
Michael was in the house when I left.
Mary was just outside the door playing with Fay Bromley, and Frances Flood.
My husband was having lunch at home
I spoke to the boys.
They turned off twoards the playground and I went on across No.3 Bridge and down the steps.
I got there at 3 p.m. by the canteen clock.
I was there only a few minutes then I went into town.
I got back to Peak Tram Station at 3.45 by their clock.
My husband and 'ndrews were there.
My husband spoke to me and I ran straight home.
Mary was being put to bed by amah.
I stripped her and examined her.
She had some very bad bruises and several abraisions,
She had a very big bump on the back of the head.
Another on bottom of spine.
One on left thigh and another on lower stomach.
Knees and elbows were cut.
Insteps were cut.
Cut on thigh.
Both arms were cut above elbow on outside.
One hand very bruised on back.
She had two very peculiar marks on her neck in front. Skin wasn't broken, some sort of circular impression. They were on right hand side at base of Kneck.
I sent for doctor.
She was under his care for about ten days.
Tony Flood will be 6 on 16th of this month. Norman Stone will be 7 on 27th of this month. Fay Bromley will be 7 next January.

I took trouble to find out birthdays of children

I took note- mental of various injuries found on Mary. Marks on neck were just above collar bone and to front. Doctor said bruises on spine and thigh were very serious.
