I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of

His Majesty's Treasury Mr. Bevir's letter of the
(2 ) 27th December, 1934 (33862/34.) and the accompanying
copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong on the
subject of King Edward VII Scholarships tenable at the
University of Hong Kong.
In reply I am to request you to inform
Secretary Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister that in the
circumstances represented My Lords approve the proposal
to use the accumulated surplus funds amounting to $12,560
for the purpose of increasing the number of Scholarships
to be granted during the years 1935/46 on the lines
indicated in the first enclosure to the despatch under
reference.
