The subsidy contribution which it is hoped that the
Hong Kong Government would be prepared to make to the
scheme is £5,000 per annum. This sum has been assessed
especially low in recognition of the fact that connection
by other services would be involved to complete the
journey to Hong Kong.
6. The annual joint mail payment in which the
scheme would involve the Malayan Postal administrations
would be £17,000, but it is assumed that this sum would
be partly offset by surcharge payments in respect of air
mail of foreign destination amounting to approximately
£1,000 per annum.
The joint subsidy contribution which it is hoped
that the Malayan Governments would be prepared to make
to the scheme is £15,000 per annum. This sum has been
assessed on the assumption that the local authorities
would be prepared to continue to accept responsibility for the ground organisation within their territories and
to accord to the Company or Companies operating the
trunk services freedom from customs duties on fuel and
oil imported for use on those services and allowances in
lieu of free housing and landing facilities.

scheme would involve the Postal Administration of Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika Territory on this basis would be £11,000, but it is assumed that this sun would be partly
offset by surcharge payments in respect of air mail of foreign destination amounting to approximately £3,000
per annum.
