80.-Compensation and Resumptions, $10,000.-This vote covers expendi- ture incurred in the acquisition of buildings and land necessitated by Town Planning Improvement.

BUILDINGS

81.-Market, Roads, Drainage at Tsun Wan, $20,000.-It has been decided to site the market an area of high ground just off the Castle Peak Road and provision is made for an access Road from the sea and from the main road together with the necessary drainage.

GENERAL WORKS.

82.-Roads, $5,000.-To cover expenditure in connection with the develop-

ment of Sha Tau Kok, Tai Po Market and Un Long.

83.—Drainage—(a) Training Nullahs, $3,000.—To be expended in perma-

nent nullah training.

84.-

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $3,000.—To provide for miscellaneous drainage works made necessary by deve- lopment at Sha Tau Kok, Tai Po Market and Un Long.

85.-Miscellaneous, $5,000. This vote is available for all Departments and provides funds for small works which arise during the year but are considered too small for a separate vote.

86.-Water Works, $2,000.-For general extension to Government mains

and service supplies required by new development.

COMMUNICATIONS.

87.-Resurfacing Road from Tai Po Market in the direction of Fanling Cross Roads including filling in to 20 feet in width and part resumptions, $10,000. This road which is only 16 feet wide is getting into bad condition necessitating strengthening at an early date and it is proposed to widen at the same time.

88.-Improving bends at 54, 63 and 74 miles, Tai Po Road, $5,000.—To complete the reconstruction of three bad bends on this much used highway.

MISCELLANEOUS.

89.-Compensation and Resumptions, $2,000.-For minor resumptions which become necessary during the year in connection with road, street or other improvements.

WATER WORKS.

90.-Water Supply Un Long District, $10,000.—This allows for completion

of the work commenced this year.

91.-New 6" supply main for Tai Po, $5,000.—This allows for completion

of the work commenced this year.

Appendix VI.-Loan Works.

Shing Mun Valley Scheme--2nd Section.

2nd Cross Harbour Pipe, $100 000.—To complete the construction of the second cross harbour pipe. It is anticipated that this pipe, which is 18 inches in diameter, will be ready for use by about April.

Vehicular Ferry, $25,000.-To continue protective works to the piers necessitated by damage done in berthing the vehicular ferry vessels and to provide addi- tional amenities asked for by the Hong Kong & Yaumati Ferry Company.

New Gaol at Stanley, $1,500,000.—To pay Retention money on the site preparation contract which it is anticipated will be completed by the end of October. Also to commence the erection of the Cell Blocks, Administration Buildings and Workshops etc. together with the construction of the drainage system and sur- facing within the boundary walls and the erection of Staff Quarters outside the Boundary Wall.

Tytam Tuk Catchwaters, $170,000-To continue works on the Dragon's Back, Mount Pottinger and Mount Parker catchwaters. This will complete the addi- tional catchwatering for the Tytam Tuk reservoir and will increase the catchment arca by about 1,554 acres. The work will be completed by November, 1935.

Air Port.

Air Port & Seaplane Slipway, $520,297.69.-To provide for the construction of a new hangar 270′ 0′′ by 157′ 0′′ together with a temporary ancillary building for administrative purposes and a seaplane slipway at the west end of the aerodrome. The cost of the existing hangar was borne jointly by the Royal Air Force and the Colonial Government. That portion of the cost which was borne by the Colonial Government will be refunded by Royal Air Force who will enter into sole occupation of the existing hangar when the new hangar is completed. The sum so obtained will be used towards the cost of the construction of the new hangar which is to serve civil purposes only.

Wireless Telegraph Station, $12,382.-To complete the equipment of the Wire-

less Telegraph Station required in connection with civil aviation.

Appendix VII. Government House & City Development Scheme.

Government House.

(a) Approach Road, $70,000.-To complete the formation of the Approach Road 30 feet wide from Stubb's Road to the site of the proposed new Government House at Magazine Gap.

(b) New Government House, $180,000. –To proceed with the site formation of the projected new Government House at Magazine Gap. The whole scheme as at present envisaged and including the approach road and site formation is estimated to cost approximately $2,000,000.
