ANTI-MALARIAL WORKS.
Sub-head 35.-Anti-Malarial Works including cost of resumptions, $60,000.---This vote is for anti-malarial work in Hong Kong. It provides for the training of stream courses, and draining of swamps to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.

BUILDINGS.
36.-Magistracy at Yaumati, $100,000.-The work consists of the erection of a Magistracy Building on the borders of King's Park and adjoining Gascoigne Road. The building will be of three stories and contain in addition to the two large Court Rooms, a small Juvenile Court, Waiting Rooms, Stores for Records, Cells and Detention Room, Quarters for Messengers etc., Magistrates' Chambers, Solicitors' Room and Office accommodation for the Administrative Staff. The top floor will consist of two European Flats. The building will replace the old and inadequate temporary Magistracy now contained in what was formerly the Yaumati Police Station.
37.-New Central British School and Site Formation, $300,000.-This provides for an anticipated expenditure of $300,000 on the main block. The work to be carried out by a Private firm of Architects. 38.-Mong Kok Tsui Market, $5,000. This building is being erected in Mong Kok Road and is of the usual market type, one storey in height with open sides and caretaker's quarters on the roof. Accommodation includes 21 stalls and a poultry killing room. The sum given in the estimates is to complete the work.
39.--Market at Tong Mi, $5,000. This building is being erected at the junction of Laichikok Road and Boundary Street and is of the usual market type one storey in height with open sides comprising 24 stalls with caretaker's quarters on roof. The sum given in the estimates is to complete the work.
40.-Kowloon Hospital Out-patients Department, $54,000.-The existing accommodation in the main hospital block is totally inadequate to cope with the increasing number of out-patients. The new block is being built at the Waterloo Road-Argyle Street entrance to the Hospital. It is one storey in height and consists of a large central waiting hall with consulting and examining rooms, minor operating, dressings, injection, dispensary and laboratory rooms leading off from the Central Hall. The sum given in the estimates is to complete the work.
41.—Furniture Workshop and Store, $2,000. This item appeared in the 1934 Estimates under the heading "Hong Kong". In view of the increasing number of Government Buildings on the mainland and the fact that a large area has been reserved there for a Government Store it was decided to erect this building at Hung Hom. It is of two stories, the ground floor of which will be used as a Workshop and the upper floor as a Store. The sum given in the estimates is to complete the work.
42.-Temporary Fire Station, Shamshuipo, $2,000.—This item appeared in Accommodation for Mong the Estimates under Head 33, S.H. 52.
Kok Fire Sub-Station. It was decided that this vote could best be
utilised in providing accommodation for fire fighting and personnel in the Shumshuipo Area. The building is being erected in Laichikok Road adjoining the Shamshuipo Police Station and provides accom- modation for two fire engines and dormitory for 14 men. given in the estimates is to complete the work.

Sub-head 43.-Quarters for Gardeners at Kowloon Hospital, $1,200.-It has been found desirable to keep gardeners on the premises.

GENERAL WORKS.
44.-Roads, $15,000. The vote will meet expenditure incurred on road surfacing, kerling, channelling and the construction of footpaths in new areas under development.
45.-Drainage.-(a) Training Nullahs, $1,000.-This sum is required to meet the cost of training stream courses where this is necessary due to new development.
46.-
(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $50,000-Required to meet the cost of providing sewers and storm water drains for houses in newly developed areas.
47.-Miscellaneous, $7,000.-This vote is available for all Departments and provides funds for small works which arise during the year but are considered too small for a separate vote.
48.-Water Works—(a) Miscellaneous, $6,000.-Provides for sinal ex- tensions to subsidiary water mains and other miscellaneous minor works.
49.-
(b) Meters, $25,000.-To provide for the supply of
meters throughout the year.
50.-Port Works, $1,000.--Required for taking soundings. borings and preliminary investigations in connection with new and proposed harbour works, foreshore dumping etc.
MISCELLANEOUS.
51.-Refuse Dump at Sung Wong Toi, $3,000.-This is to provide facilities
for the disposal of refuse and filling of the area.
52.-Exhumation of Chinese Cemeteries, $1,000.-To provide for the
removal of Chinese graves which may obstruct development. 53.-Chinese Cemeteries-Laying out new areas, $4,000.-To provide for
new burial areas in existing cemeteries.
WATER WORKS.
54.-Back Lane Service Pipes. $7,000.-To provide for the extension of subsidiary service pipes in back lanes in newly developed properties to obviate the excessive cutting of roads which would be necessary for direct connection to principal mains. These subsidiary mains are eventually paid for by house owners when connections are requested. 55.-Distribution Mains, $5,000.-To provide for water mains in newly
developed areas.
