These appear as new posts but are in reality
replacements in anticipation of retirements in the near future.
It has been considered necessary to insert a new post,
Inspector of Mui Tsai, under Secretariat for Chinese Affairs.
It has been customary in the past for the inspection of mui
tsai to be carried out by a senior Sub-Inspector seconded
from the Police. The officer at present seconded, viz., Sub-
Inspector H. W. Fraser has done good work in the post for
several years but would, in the natural course of events,
revert to the Police next year and it has been considered.

the Police estimates as a result of this transfer.
