With reference to your despatch No.73
of the 15th February, 1934, on the subject of the
vehicular ferry, I have the honour to forward a copy
of a resolution which was passed by the Legislative
Council on the 9th August, 1934, together with a copy of the Hansard Report, and to request your covering
authority for the expenditure involved.

The statement by the Colonial Treasurer
in his speech on the resolution regarding the possib-
ility of further expenditure on this work refers to
certain modifications to the ferry piers now under consideration, which are thought likely to be necessary
in order to minimize the risk of damage by vessels
entering the berths, together with the cost of turn-
stiles which are already on order.

As it is probable that the final cost
of these piers will exceed the sum of $1,864,000 which
was approved in your despatch under reference I have
caused the sum of $1,900,000 to be inserted in the
Loan Ordinance No.11 of 1934, and in the appendix to
