Island, in which connection I would invite attention
to paragraph 4 of Sir R.E. Stubbs' despatch No.381 of
1st October, 1924. The sum not exceeding $50,000 there
referred to has not yet been paid as no new Church has
yet been built to replace St. Peter's Church. The
Trustees have now asked that the sum should be utilized
towards the building of the Church, Church Hall, and Vicarage
on the new site referred to in this despatch. To
their request I have acceded, subject to your approval,
as Church Premises are urgently required in this
rapidly developing district. When the sum is paid the
present St. Peter's Church will be relinquished to
the Government.
