MINISTRY OF HEALTH,
12
WHITEHALL, S.W.1.
2 November, 1934.

Sir,
I am directed by the Minister of Health to refer to the Colonial Office memorandum of the 25th ultimo
(9) (33822/34), regarding the recognition of an Official
Certificate under the proposed Public Health (Imported Food) Amendment Regulations, 1934, for lard exported from Hong Kong and to say that the assurance furnished by the Governor of Hong Kong in paragraph 1(b) of his despatch of the 11th September last has been noted.
I am, however, to point out that the Official Certificate recognised under the existing Imported Food Regulations for fats from Hong Kong is not in the form of the certificate of which specimens were enclosed with the above-mentioned despatch, but consists of a label of the design reproduced in Circular 713, copies of which are enclosed. The Minister would suggest that it would be convenient if a label of similar design were recognised as the Official Certificate for the purpose of the proposed Amendment Regulations, and I am to ask that the Secretary of State will be good enough to ascertain whether the Governor of Hong Kong concurs in this suggestion.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
neir
