I should add that the Government's expenditure in

past years has included provision for the charges on their.

Sterling debt, consisting of the Hong Kong 32% loan, 1918/1943.

This was repaid on the 15th October last, and the annual charges,

which amounted to £66,856. will no longer have to be met. Some

reduction in their sterling requirements may, therefore, be

anticipated in future. There is no other sterling debt.

I return the minute paper.

Yours sincerely,

Renamon
