Dear Howard,

35

4, MILLBANK,

WESTMINSTER,

LONDON, S. W. 1.

(VICTORIA 7730)

27th November 1934.

Your letter dated the 21 st November, No. 33801/34, on

the question of co-operation between the Treasury Chest Officer

and the Colonial Government in connection with remittances to

and from Hong Kong.

I enclose a list of the remittances which we have

received from the Colonial Government since the beginning of

1928, which is as far back as we can conveniently go. You will

notice that the average is a little over £400,000 a year, which

is the figure given in paragraph 3 of the Treasury letter dated

the 16th June. This seems to indicate that the details for

which Young now asks were already known in the Treasury.

We do not know the rates at which the remittances

were made, since all we receive is telegraphic advice that so

many pounds sterling will be paid to us by such and such a bank.

/I

F.J.Howard Esq., 0.B.E.,

CA
