Colonial Office,

Downing Street, S.#.l.
February, 1935.
Dear Southan
I should be very grateful if you would
refer to your official despatch No. 500 of the 26th
of September, 1934, on the subject of remittances to
and from Hong Kong. We are under an obligation to
consider with the Treasury the fullest extent to
which it would be possible to arrange co-operation
between the Government of Hong Kong and His Majesty's
Government in this matter without adversely affecting
the substantial interests of either Government, and
with a view to looking into the question more closely,
I should be very glad if you would seni home a
statement of the rates at which the remit tances
shown on the enclosed statement were made.
URS SINCERELY
(Bigned) H. R. COWELL
SIR WILFRID T. SOUTHORK, K.3.2., C.M.G.
