207. Fell at Cheung Chau School. The work consisted of the sinking of a well 28′0′′ in depth. Tenders were obtained and the work was carried out in September by Messrs. Chiu Sing Kee in a satisfactory manner.

209. Water Supply at Tsun Wan.--The main section of the work was completed on the 1st September since which date a constant supply has been maintained. This portion of the work consists of:A concrete intake dam a few hundred yards above the bridge on the Shing Mun Access Road; a combined strainer and storage tank of approximately 5,000 gallons capacity; a 4′′ diameter wrought iron supply main from the intake to Tsun Wan Village, 6,400 feet in length; 2,198 feet of 4" cast iron distribution mains; 470 feet of 2′′ wrought iron distribution mains; 5 fire hydrants; 6 street fountains; an internal supply to the Police Station.

Later the supply was extended to the next village, the follow- ing additions being made:-1,875 feet of 4" cast iron distribution mains; 500 feet of 2′′ wrought iron distribution mains; 3 fire hydrants; 5 street fountains.

210. Main from Taipo Market to New Reservoir -250 feet of 6" wrought iron pipe was laid from Taipo Market to the new reservoir, and 1,356 feet of 6" cast iron main from the road near the 143 mile stone to the strainer tank.

WORKS NOT APPEARING IN ESTIMATES.

211. Remand Home for Juvenile Offenders. The work con- sisted of the adaptation of the old Belilios Reformatory as a Remand Home for Juvenile Offenders. Considerable alterations and additions to the buildings were necessary, the installation of a water carriage drainage system, complete electric light and bell installations, renovation of the buildings throughout, the erection of a reinforced concrete boundary wall all round the site to a height of 14'0" above yard level, and a new approach path and steps. The alterations, additions and renovation were done under the Maintenance of Buildings Contract, and the Contract for the erection of the boundary wall was let to Messrs. Kin Lee & Co. Work was commenced on 13th March, 1933, and was completed on 27th June, 1933.

212. Accommodation for Sanitary District Office.-Following the decision to demolish Beaconsfield Arcade, accommodation for the Sanitary District Office was obtained in the Post Office Building.

213. Purchase of Sailors' Home and Seamen's Institute on M.L. 295, and adaptation as Offices.-This building was pur- chased by Government, and alterations were carried out to pro- vide accommodation for certain offices formerly housed in Beaconsfield Arcade. The work consisted of the erection of partitions and minor alterations, and the building was occupied as follows:-Ground floor, Central Medical Office and Stores; 1st floor, Statistical Office of the Imports and Exports Department; 2nd floor, Port Development Office of the Public Works Depart- ment. The work was completed in May.

214. Demolition of Beaconsfield Arcade.-The work of de- molition, which was commenced in June and completed early in August, was carried out by Messrs. Yeung Fat & Co. A credit of $3,500.00 was received from them for the old materials.

215. Demolition of Nos. 1 and 2 Queen's Gardens.-The work of demolition, which was commenced in August and com- pleted in October, was carried out by Messrs. Cheong Hing & Co. A credit of $1,650.00 was received from them for the old materials.

216. Demolition of Waterworks Bungalow, Shaukiwan.— The work of demolition, which was commenced in July and com- pleted in August, was carried out by Messrs. Lam Cheong Kee. A credit of $304.50 was received from them for the old mate- rials.

217. Upper Levels Police Station.-A scheme has been prepared for the erection of temporary Barrack Sheds, with Mess Room, Kitchen, Bath house and Latrines, to accommodate the
