While working in the Rubislaw quarries I have driven

Henderson built cableways varying from 5 to 20 tons capacity

and the Manager, Mr. George Ross, can vouch for my

capabilities as a cableway driver.

If any further reference

is required Mr. R. T. Medd, of John M. Henderson & Co. Ltd.,

Engineers, Aberdeen, will be glad to give it.

I am British by birth and my parents and

predecessors have been British for many generations.

I was

a British subject until 1931, when, in order to retain my

position with the Ford Motor Company, Detroit, I took out

American papers. I have been residing in Aberdeen, Scotland

since April, 1933, and by next March, i.e. March 1935, I

will have lost my American citizenship and from that time

onwards will automatically be regaining my British Status

which I am most anxious to do. In this connection I enclose

herewith copy of a section of the British Nationality and

Status of Aliens Act which was sent me by Sir Frederick

Thompson, M. P. for South Aberdeen.

From this you will see

that I am at liberty to work in any British Colony or

Dominion and if in the service of the Crown I immediately

begin to regain my British Status.

With regard to my character, this can be vouched

for by several prominent men in the City of Aberdeen.

I trust these particulars will give you the

information you require and I sincerely trust that they will

meet with your approval.

I am, Sirs,

Yours respectfully,

(Sgd) Wm. F. Coutts.
