I am informed will contain definite
recommendations in regard to the question
of accommodation on board ship, will
provide an opportunity of reviewing
the present arrangements in Hong Kong,
both in regard to the classification
of officers for passage purposes and
in regard to the grant of contributions
from the Government towards the cost of
passages for an officer's family.
In these circumstances I propose to
await the Committee's report before
considering any further proposals for
changes in the existing arrangements.
Meanwhile I will not press for a
reconsideration of the position of the
five officers affected by the recent
change in the rules regarding the class
of passage.. On the other hand, I should
not object to the grant to these officers,
if any of them come on leave before the
completion
