Sir,

I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to refer to

your letter No. 33712/34 of the 31st January transmitting

a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong on the

question of the control of the printing of bank notes in

the Colony.

2. Sir John Simon is not aware of any regulations relating

to the printing of bank notes in England for foreign powers,

but presumes that information on this subject might be

obtained from the Home Office or the Board of Trade.

In

the circumstances, he feels unable to offer any observations

that might assist His Excellency to reach a decision on the

point under consideration.
