Sir,
With reference to your letter of 17th February 1934,
No.33743/34, concerning the removal of the R. N. Armament
Depot, from Hong Kong to Stonecutters Island, I am
commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to
acquaint you that before replying to the question asked by
His Excellency the Governor as to the date on which the
present depot will be evacuated, it has been necessary for
Them to comunicate with the Naval Authorities at Hong Kong.
From information now received My Lords anticipate that the
constructional works on Stonecutters Island will be
completed by the end of September 1936 and, taking into
account the period that must thereafter be allowed for the
transfer of all Armament Stores from the existing Depot to
the new one, They consider it should be possible to
evacuate the old Depot completely by February 1937.
