46. Should any vessel or aircraft within the limits of the Colony while being attended by any medical practitioner be found to have any infectious disease on board, such vessel or aircraft, shall at once be considered as an infected vessel or aircraft under this Ordinance. It shall be the duty of such medical practitioner to inform the master of the nature of the disease and notify the same in writing to the Port Health Officer. All further action as regards the patient, the members of the crew, the passengers or the vessel or aircraft shall be under the direction of the Port Health Officer. The Master of such vessel or aircraft shall at once take such steps as are necessary to inform the Port Health Officer of the facts of the case and the master of the vessel shall hoist the Quarantine Flag and shall not permit any further communica - tion with the shore, but shall wait for instructions from the Port Health Officer.

47. In case of a vessel in the waters of the Colony not having a surgeon or medical practitioner in attendance and having any sickness on board, the nature of which the master is unable to make out, he shall at once hoist the call flag for medical assistance (letter M in the International Code Signals over the Code pennant), and take such measures as may be necessary to inform the Port Health Officer and wait for a decision.

48. This Ordinance and the regulations and by-laws. management made thereunder shall not in any way interfere with the internal management of any of His Majesty's ships or of foreign ships of war, or with their freedom to proceed to sea, whenever the officer in command may deem such course requisite.

Plague Precautionary Measures.
49. Plague infected vessels and aircraft shall undergo
the following measures:-
(i) Medical inspection.
(ii) The sick shall be immediately disembarked and isolated.
(iii) All persons who have been in contact with the sick and those whom the Health Officer has reason to consider suspect shall be disembarked if possible. They may be sub- jected to observation, or to surveillance, or to observation followed by surveillance, provided that the total duration of these measures does not exceed six days from the arrival of the vessel.
(iv) Bedding which has been used, soiled linen, wearing apparel, and other articles which, in the opinion of the Health Officer, are infected shall be disinsected and if necessary disinfected.
