I have the honour to acquaint you that I have been in
communication with the Secretary of State for War with regard
So the method of recording ir meters or exchanges of land
effected between the far Department and a Colonial Government,
and with a view to dispensing as far as possible with the legal
charges involved on the execution of a formal deed of
convey ange, an arrangement has been agreed to under which such
a deed will mot be necessary so long as the terms of th
arrangements in oonnection with the transfer are clearly
recorded ina formal memorandum, accompanied by a plan of the
lunds in question, and signed in duplicate by the Governor and
the Officer Commanding the iroope in the Colony after being
approved by the Secretaries of State for the Colonies and for
far.
I have therefore to request that, whenever in future
it may be necessary to effect a transfer or exchange of land
with the ear Department, a memorandum may be prepared
embodying the terms of transfer and forwarded, accompanied by
the necessary plan, for approval.

The memorandus and plan will be prepared by the ŝar
Department when transferring property to the Coloní al
Government, and by the Colonial Government when transferring
property to the War Department.
