With reference to your letter of the 17th inst.
92640/32, regarding the position of the four Wireless
Engineers, Messrs. Madgwick, Brumby, Wood and Jeffery,
whom this Company has lent to the Hong Kong Government,
we have pleasure in informing you that the Company is
prepared to allow these officers to remain on loan for
the present.
In answer to your further enquiry as to whether
the Company would have any objection to Mr. G. Madgwick
and Mr. C. A. K. Jeffery being offered permanent appoint-
ments in the Hong Kong Government service, the Company
would not raise any objection to the transfer of Mr.
Madgwick. If he accepts service with the Government
it will be necessary for him to make his own arrangements
to secure whatever benefits might be due to him under the
Marconi Company's Pension Fund.
The case of Mr. Jeffery, however, is somewhat
different; he is one of our younger staff whose training
