3. Age and Marriage.
Administration of the local Ordinance pertaining to the erection of buildings and development of sites. This includes the scrutiny of plans, checking reinforced concrete details and calcu- lations, inspection of buildings and general office routine. Candidates must be well up in building construction and drainage and have thorough knowledge of reinforced concrete work and should possess one of the following qualifi- cations
A.M.I.C.E., A.R.I.B.A. or an equivalent degree.
£550 per annum rising by annual increments of £30 to £610 during the third year. Half salary will be paid during the voyage out. On the satisfactory completion of his agreement the officer will be eligible for leave on full salary at the rate of one-twelfth of his service, less leave taken during service. He will also be entitled to half salary for the voyage home.
Candidates must be between the ages of twenty- four and thirty years and unmarried, and should they marry after appointment will not be eligible for married privileges in respect of rent allow- ance or passages.

A lodging allowance equal to five per cent of salary subject to a maximum of $50 per month is granted to unmarried officers.
First Class passages out and home will be pro- vided for the officer only, subject in the latter case to satisfactory service.
Three years. The officer will be eligible for consideration for any suitable vacancy which may exist in the permanent establishment on the expiration of his agreement but no guarantee of employment beyond three years can be given.
For purpose of payment in the Colony sterling salaries are at present converted into Hong Kong dollars at rates fixed by the Government. The rate is at present fixed at the average current monthly rate of exchange.
The officer will not be entitled to contribute to the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Scheme unless and until he is transferred to the permanent establishment in the circumstances mentioned under Head 6.
