I have the honour to refer to your letter No.13850/33
of the 29th of November, on the subject of the appointment of
three Architects and two Overseers for service with the
Public Works Department, Hong Kong, and to state that, in
regard to the latter vacancies, we have had under
consideration the retrenched Foremen of Works, etc, detailed
in the list which was sent to us semi-officially.

Particulars of the appointment were forwarded to
the following retrenchees, who appeared most likely to be
suitable, having regard to their past experience as
carpenters, with a view to ascertaining whether they desired
to become candidates :-

A.H.W. Manger
L.H.Young.
R.J.Wright.
B.Pengelly.
B.A.Mansell.
Foreman of Works, Sierra Leone.
Building Foreman, Kenya.
Foreman of Works, Nigeria.
Overseer, Uganda.
Foreman of Works, Nigeria.
Foreman of Works, Gold Coast.
Mr.Collins did not wish to be considered and it was
ascertained that Mr.Manger was not available as he had
returned to Kenya. Messrs. Young and Wright did not reply
to our communications.

B.A.Mansell ( 35, married, 3 children) applied for the post,
have been interviewed, and are considered suitable.
have passed the medical examination and are prepared to
accept engagement, upon the terms given in the paper of
