Officer singly.
No rent allowance will ordinarily be granted to an officer on probation or agreement, who was unmarried at date of appointment, if he marries while he remains on probation, or agreement.
An Officer who, with the permission of the Colonial Secretary, does not reside either in Government quarters or in a tenement in respect of which a rent allowance is payable as above, receives a lodging allowance as follows:-
(a) Married Officers 10 per cent of
salary subject to a maximum of $100 per mensem,
(b) Other Officers 5 per cent of salary subject to a maximum of $50 per
mensen.

The Officer will le engaged on a probationary agreement for a period of three years at the end or whi ch he will, if his services are still satisfactory, and subject to his being certified medically fit, be considered eligible for appointment to the permanent establishment, with leave arrangements pertaining thereto.
For the purposes of local payment, salaries fixed in sterling are converte into dollars at rates fixed by the Government. The rate as from the 1st. January, 1932, has been fixed at the current rate of exchange, subject to a minimum rate of is. and a maximum rate of 2s.
A deduction of 4 per cent from salary: is made as contribution to the Widows and Orphans' Pension Scheme.
