My dear Peel,
Sir Walter Hose, a former colleague of
mine at the India Office, recently brought me a
collection of sketches of Hong Kong in the year 1846 belonging to a Mr. Gregor Grunt, which he thought the Hong Kong Government might possibly
like to acquire.
The sketches, a list of which I enclose,
are by a Mr. Bruce, an architect, and their owner, who is willing to sell them, has been
advised that they are of some value.
Perhaps you would consider and let me know
whether the matter is of any interest to you.
If you thought that there was a primâ facie case for acquiring the sketches, perhaps the
Sir William Peel, K.C.M.G., K.B.E.
