My dear Shuckburgh,

Shuckburgh

Many thanks for your letter, 13759/33

of the 27th March, on the subject of the sketches of Hong

They sound as if they

Kong belonging to Mr. Gregor Grant.

might be quite interesting.

Southorn is going on leave on June 7th,

and will be in London early in July, and I have asked him

to arrange with you to have a look at them and see whether

we can do a deal in the matter. We have a lot of pictures here which were given by Sir Paul Chater to the Colony, and

a lot of them are in Gov er ment House and in the Government

offices, but the idea is at some future date, when we have

a public building, to put them in, to collect them all in

one place. Apparently none of the sketches mentioned in the

list attached to your letter are referred to in the Chater

collection record.

Sir John Shuckburgh, K.C.M.G., C.B.,

Colonial Office.

Yours very sincerely,

Love
