(Report for period ended 31

4.7.33

On the whole this is I think another

very satisfactory report. There are however

one or two points upon which it might be useful

to have additional information (in which

connection see (17) and (18) on 13718/33 and my

minute of 11.8.33 on that file.)

The progressive diminution in the

number of registered mui tsai is indicated by

the following figures:-

Originally registered in 1930

4,368

Remaining on register, 30th Nov.1931. 3,810

It will be observed that girls

removed from the register as untraced are

replaced on the register if and when found

again in the Colony. It would be interesting

to know whether all and if not how many of the

employers of the 36 girls recently so replaced

were prosecuted for failure to notify their

changes of address. We might ask.

We might also refer in the same

despatch to the 471 girls who with their

employers as reported in paragraph 5 of (11) on

92613/32 had removed to unknown addresses

after being visited by the Inspectors at the

addresses originally registered, observe that

in paragraph 4 of (1) on 13743/33 it was

reported that 122 had then been located in the

Colony
