with reference to previous correspondence I have
to inform you that subject to your passing satisfactorily
a medical examination as to your physical fitness for the
post and to your undergoing a short period of training at
the Board of Trade, particularly with regard to the question
of the treatment of existing ships under the Safety Convention,
it is proposed to offer you provisional appointment as an
Assistant Government Marine Surveyor (ship surveyor) in the
Government Marine Surveyor's Department of the Harbour office,
Hong Kong.
2. You should therefore present yourself for medical
examination without delay in accordance with the instructions
contained in the attached printed memorandum . If you are
passed as physically fit in all respects and at the termination
of the period of training referred to in paragraph I, satisfy
the Board of Trade Authorities that you are qualified to take
up the appointment, you would be offered engagement for a period
of three years on the terms and conditions set out in the
attached specimen copy of the form of agreement which you would
be required to sign.
3. You should inform us as soon as possiblé when,
if you are passed as physically capable of undertaking the duties of the appointment, you are prepared to commence the
