of Trade), and Commander Hole interviewed three
candidates, viz: Messrs. D. Kossick, W.B. Slater and J.
Rundle, (particulars of whose qualifications and
experience are attached) who have not previously held
appointments in the Colonial Service. All three are
recommended as suitable for the appointment in the order
in which their names appear. Mr. D. Kossick whose
references are satisfactory, has now been passed as
physically fit to undertake the duties of the appointment,
subject to slight dental treatment, and it is proposed to
provisionally select him for the one vacancy to be filled
at present and to arrange, in conjunction with the Board
of Trade, for him to undergo the customary course of
instruction.
3. We enclose a draft of a Bond which, subject to
the approval of the Secretary of State, we propose to enter
into with Mr. Kossick on his provisional selection in
respect of the allowances etc., to be paid in connection
with the course of instruction with the Board of Trade.
4. We should be glad to learn as soon as possible
whether the Secretary of State agrees to the provisional
selection of Mr. Kossick and whether the terms of the
draft Bond are approved.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
