* to J..0. Davidson, Esquire, Shanghai, January 7th. 1933.

sir,

Tsen; vụ Cho (deca

we have to inform you that we are acting for Mrs.

Taeng Wu Cho, a British subject, the widow of Tseng #u

Cho deceased Probate of whose Estate has recently been

granted by H.B.P. upreme Court at Shanghai.

rs. Taeng is herself a British subject having been

born in hongkong of British parents and she is now ob-

taining the necessary papers from Hongkong in order to

apply for a British passport. Her father, who is still

alive and is resident in Foschow, is also a British sub-

ject.

The Estate is quite a large one and certain relatives

viz. the sister. of her late husband, who are Chinese

citizens although born in Hongkong, have brought an

action in the First special District Court claiming a

share in the Estate. The second hearing will take

place on Wednesday, the 11th. instant, and although the

Probate has been produced and shown to the Court, we are

instructed that the Court desires to receive an official

letter from H.B.M. Consulate to the effect that Mr. Tseng

zo Cho's Estate has been taken jurisdiction over by the

British Court and that he was a British subject.

We should be much obliged, therefore, if you would

on behalf of our client cause such letter to be addressed

through the proper channels to the President of the First

pecial District Court containing a statement to this

effect, at the same time we should be very much obliged

if you would kindly send us a copy of the letter in quez-

tion in order that Mrs. Tseng's Counsel may have the same

before him at the trial of the action.

we are, Sir,

Your obedient servants,
