placed under the direction of the

Officer Commanding, Royal Air Force

Base.

It has been fully recognised

that the aerodrome has been provided

for joint service and civil use and

the aerodrome is at present under the joint

control of the Service and civil authorities.

So far as the Secretary of State is aware

the existing arrangement is working

satisfactorily and the Air Council adduce

no special reasons for their belief

that divided control of the aerodrome

is administratively objectionable and

not in the interest of either Service or

civil flying. It appears to Sir Philip

Cunliffe-Lister that, in so far as unified

control may be desirable in the interests

of the safety of flying generally
