glad if Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister would cause the
considerations which have been adduced above to be brought
to the attention of His Excellency the Governor and if it
is found that this or a similar alternative method of
proceeding would not entail too great a sacrifice on the
part of the Colonial Administration he hopes that having
regard to the important interests at stake in China, it may
receive favourable consideration.
