END

I have the honour to inform you that a sum of

$44,000 has been inserted in the draft Public "orks Extraordinary

Estimates 1933 for the erection of a wireless station at Hunghom

for the broadcast transmitter. At present the transmitter is

at the Peak Wireless Station, but it is desired to utilize this

station solely for reception purposes, as the existing receiving station at the Observatory in Kowloon has proved unsatisfactory.

Exhaustive tests have been carried out at the proposed ner station at Hunghom and the results have been satisfactory. it is desired to commence the work as soon as possible so that the buildings may be completed and dried out during the dry season. it is anticipated that even though the tork is started this year no payments in connection with it rill have to be

made until next year.

3.

I have discussed the matter rith the Unofficial

Members of Legislative Council and they are unanimously in favour of the scheme, which will be equally necessary thether the Colony's commercial wireless services are taken over by the

Merger Company or not.

4.

I should be glad to have your approval by telegram for this expenditure and for the commencement of the work at once.

9.

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,
