KOWLOON.
BUILDINGS.
Sub-head 52.-Kowloon Magistracy, $120,000.--The work consists of the erection of a Magistracy Building on the borders of King's Park and adjoining Gascoigne Road. The building will be of three stories and contain in addition to the two large Court Rooms, a small Juvenile Court, Waiting Rooms, Stores for Records, Cells and Detention Room, Quarters for Messengers etc., Magistrates' Chambers, Solicitors' Room and Office accommodation for the Administrative Staff. The top floor will consist of a European Flat suitable for the Police Magistrate.

The building will replace the old and inadequate temporary Magistracy now contained in what was formerly the Yaumati Police
Station.
53.-Kowloon Hospital-Additions, $180,000.-The additions consist of a new General Ward Block for 3rd Class patients, a block of Nurses' Quarters and an additional Medical Officer's House. These buildings are in accordance with the plans for an ultimate Hospital of 500 beds and form the next stage in its development. Tenders for the additions have already been obtained and by the end of the present year the buildings will be under way.
The sum provided in the Estimates is for the continuance of the work which, it is expected, will be completed early in 1934.
54.-Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depot -Additional Lairage, $10,000.-The work consists of the erection of an additional lairage to accommodate the increasing number of cattle which it is necessary to house at the Depot.
55.-V. D. Clinic, Kowloon, $7,500.-The work consists of the erection of a temporary Clinic for the treatment of Venereal Disease at Tsim Sha Tsui.
The building is of one storey and contains Waiting Room, Dispensary, Medical Officer's Room, etc.
Tenders have already been obtained for the work and the sum contained in the Estimates is for its continuance and completion in 1933.
56.-lung Hom Government Store, $1,000.-The vote is in connection with
minor improvements to the Store area.
57.-Ver Residence for D.R.O., $35,000.--Office accommodation at the Royal Observatory has become very limited. It is proposed to erect a detached house in the grounds to house the D.R.O. and use his old quarters in the main building as an extension to the offices. That these quarters are at first floor level is also convenient as this affords better observation in the direction of Lyemun during typhoon weather.
58.-Vew Centrul British School, $70,000. The sum provided in the Estimates is to enable a new site for this building to be prepared on the south side of Argyle Street opposite the Kowloon Hospital,
59.-Mong Kok Tsui New Market, $18,000-The proposed building is of the usual market type, one storey in height with open sides and caretakers quarters on the roof. Accommodation includes 21 stalls and a poultry killing room.
Sub-head 60.-Kowloon Junior School, New Drill Hall, $4,000.-The building erected will be of temporary construction in timber and will provide space which may alternatively be used for a Drill Hall or additional Class room.

-WIT Station, Hung Hom, $41,000. To provide a new permanent station for the Broadcast Transmitter lately situated at the Peak. This Transmitter has been temporarily housed on the site on which it is proposed to erect the permanent station. This will reserve the Peak Station for reception work of a general nature. The existing reception station at the Observatory has become unsatisfactory owing to electrical interference from surrounding development. The new station will be sited on a portion of the area reserved for a Government Store immediately to the south of the junction of Chatham Road and Winslow Street.
62.-Kowloon Fire Station Quarters for Sub. Officers, $2,000.-The Sub. Officers stationed at Tsim Sha Tsui have no separate accommodation. It is proposed to carry out internal alterations to provide this. 63.-Latrine at the Junction of Ningpo & Woosung Streets, $6,000.--To
convert the existing dry latrine into one with a water carriage system.
GENERAL WORKS.
64.-Roads, $130,000.-The vote will meet expenditure incurred by road surfacing, kerbing, channelling and the construction of footpaths in new areas under developinent.
65.-Drainage (a) Training Nullahs, $1,000, makes provision for stream
course improvement in areas under development.
() Miscellaneous Drainage Works. $100,000.--This vote is mainly for the provision of Sewers and storm water Drains in areas under development,
66.-Miscellaneous, $5,000.-The vote provides funds in respect of various
small works which arise during the year.
67-Water Works (a) Miscellaneous, $8,000.-Provides for extensions to subsidiary water mains and miscellaneous minor works.
(b) Meters, $60.000.-To provide for the installation of
meters throughout the year.
68.-Port Works, $1,000.--Required for taking soundings, borings and preliminary investigations in connection with: new and proposed harbour works, foreshore dumping etc.
COMMUNICATIONS.
69.-Chatham Road Extension, $5,000.-Retention money in connection
with the construction of a through road north of Hung Hom.
70.-Improving existing main Roads for Motor Traffic, $50,000.--Necessary for strengthening main roads by forming R.C.C. foundations to meet the requirements of heavy and fast traffic.
71.-Improving Waterloo Road from Nathan Road to Railway Bridge, $10,000.-To commence the widening to the south of the nullah in this section of road to its full width. The improvement is necessitated owing to the increased traffic due to development in the Prince Edward Road-Kowloon Tong areas.
