University Degree with a Diploma of Education or in lieu thereof teach- ing experience in a recognized school and ability to teach: -

(1) Essential. Chemistry.

Form subjects.

It is advisable that the officer

should remain unmarried until he has completed his probationary period of three years and has been confirmed in his appointment on the permanent staff.

£500 per annum rising by annual increments of £30 to £650 per annum, then £710 per annum rising by one annual increments of £60 to £770 per annum, then £800 per annum rising by annual increments of £30 to £950 per annum.

Partially furnished quarters if available. If quarters are supplied by Government a deduction of 6% (7% if heavy furniture is provided) will be made from the officer's salary. If Government quarters are not supplied an officer who rents a tenement with the per- mission of Government receives a rent allowance in the sum of the rent and taxes payable in respect of the unfurnished tenement less a sum of 6% of salary. The maximum monthly rentals inclusive of taxes which are recognized by the Govern- ment are

(a) In the case of an officer whose salary exceeds £1,400 per annum, $250 per mensem.

(b) In the case of an officer whose

salary exceeds £1,100 but does not exceed £1,400 per annum, $200 per mensem.

(c) In the case of an officer whose

salary exceeds £700 but does not exceed £1,100 per annum, $175 per mensem.

(a) In the case of an officer whose salary does not exceed £700 per annum, $150 per mensem.

Atenement is taken to be a separate House or a self-contained flat of two or more rooms, but does not include accommodation in a hotel or boarding house or, except with the express approval of the Government, a single room or two rooms occupied by an officer singly.
