3. The salary attaching to the appointment is at the rate of £360 a year rising by annual increments of £20 to £700 a year, with an efficiency bar at
£460 a year.

The currency of Hong Kong is based, on the
payments silver dollar. For the purpose of appointments in the
Colony salaries fixed in sterling are converted into dollars at rates fixed by the Government from time to time. The rate as from the 1st January 1932 has been fixed at the current rate of exchange subject to a minimum rate of 1/- and a maximum rate of 2/- to
the dollar.
5. An Assistant Mistress will be provided with a free passage to the Colony subject to an undertaking to refund the cost of the passage in the event of her relinquishing her appointment within three years for any other reason than mental or physical infirmity. Half salary will be payable from the date of embarkation and full salary from the date
of arrival in Hong Kong.
6. Free Government quarters are provided if available or an allowance of $50 a month is granted
in lieu thereof.
7. New Leave and Passage Regulations have recently been issued and are set out in Sections VII and VIII of the Hong Kong General Orders, (Copy enclosed for perusal and return).
8. Pensions are governed by local legislation. The normal age of retirement in the case of a lady serving in the Education Department is 50 years except in the case of ill health. To qualify for pension on retirement an officer must hold a pensionable
