With reference to your letter of the 16th June,
1932, No.92660/32, concerning proposals for. the
dredging of a portion of Hong Kong Harbour, I am
commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty
to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary
of State for the Colonies that My Lords require certain
dredging to be carried out adjacent to the area mentioned
in the despatch of His Excellency the Governor of
Hong Kong, dated 26th April 1932.
My Lords consider that it would be an
advantage both to the Hong Kong Government and the
Admiralty if the latter's requirements could be included
in the invitations to tender for the main portion of the
dredging as the additional quantity should tend to
reduce the rate owing to the reduction in the Con-
tractors overhead charges.
My Lords understand that the Chairman of the
Imperial Shipping Committee is prepared to recommend
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
