The Company by special

condition 17 undertakes to pay a sum of $55,000 towards

the cost of this road. This sum will be sufficient

to cover the whole cost of the road to the southern

boundary of the Company's property, and half the cost

from that point to the end.

I am satisfied that the scheme will add

considerably to the amenities of the Colony, and that the grant of area 'A' to the Company is a necessary

feature of it. The matter has been under consideration

for over twelve months; it has from time to time been

discussed with my Executive Council, both generally and

in detail, and has now been unanimously approved. I should therefore be glad if I might have your approval for the disposal of area 'A' to the Company on the terms

proposed. As detailed plans, drawings, etc. will

have to be prepared, and as it is most desirable that

work in connection with the scheme should be commenced

immediately the present bathing season closes, I should be glad to have your reply by telegraph.
