Mr. Vernon,

I have now seen Hong Kong 92622/32 in which are

recorded the decisions in connection with various

questions about the Military Contribution.

The

particular decision to which I wish to refer is that

regarding the assessment of Military Contribution on

profits on Investments. In view of the decision

reached, and when it has been accepted by the Hong

Kong Government, it seems that two points raised in

the minutes on Hong Kong 62916/29 might be taken up

ith the Hong Kong Government, viz.,

(i) The abolition of the Adjustment of Exchange

Account

-

your minute of 2.12.29.

(ii) The passing to Revenue of the sum standing in

the Suspense Account Military Contribution -

Mr. Martin's minute of 15.11.29.
