Dear Mr. Burchell,
You will remember that you and I
discussed the case of Sung Man Cho (otherwise known as Nguyen A1 quoc) here on the 20th January.
You will also remember that we went into the
question of counsel, and that, as I knew
Mr. Bushe would like Mr. Preedy to have the case,
I asked you to send the papers to him in due
course.
The note of our discussion which I made
in the file at the time contains the following
passage: - *I instructed him (1.e. Mr. Burchell)
to brief Mr. Preedy in due course".
Then I received your letter of the
16th March in which you said, inter alia, " I have
no instructions as to the Junior to be instructed
in Bung Man Cho, I did not appreciate that you
were referring to what I always think of as the
"Quoc case" in which, as stated above, I had
