Foreign Office of the matter, he did not

appear to be unduly perturbed, but said that

the French Government had been informed that

the matter was one for decision by the Privy

they Council; and would have to abide by the results

of the appeal, whatever they might be. I also

took the opportunity to mention the matter to

Sir William Peel who was entirely satisfied to

abide by Sir Stafford Cripps' advice and sav

no objection to the payment of the sum sugge st ed

provided that the expulsion order against

Nguyen ai Quoc remained in force.
