I have etc. to refer to
your telegram No.145 of the
8th of July regarding the
vacancies for Constables selection of candidates for
appointment to the Hong Kong
Police Force, in which you
asked that the candidates
selected should be near
relatives of Hong Kong officers
or ex-officers, and to inform
you that while on this occasion
in the case of the
pect vacancies
in question
it has been possible to give
effect to the views expressed in
the telegram, the restriction
with regard to the selection of
candidates, if it is proposed to
apply it in future cases, may
be open to criticism.
