south end of the yard and lie closer to the fronts of the

buildings in the central portion of the Yard.

Such an

adjustment would necessitate having the first standard on

the east side of the entrance and approximately on the site

of the police hut in the Naval Armament Depot.

It was suggested that the trestle structure at the

bend could then be placed immediately to the west of the

structure marked on plan "Ordnance Shelter Open Shed", thus

leaving clear more of the roadway.

Colonel Stokes pointed out that this arrangement

would block access to the shed referred to and also to the

Lorry garage immediately to the North of it and would

obstruct both light and access to the building marked

"New Ordnance Workshops (Army)", which is used as a

carpentry shop.

It was suggested that this difficulty might be

overcome and road obstruction further reduced by placing

the trestle structure partially upon the side of the shed

marked "Ordnance Shelter Open Shed", which would then have

to be erected elsewhere.

It was further suggested that the difficulty as to the terminal structure encroaching upon the quay space

the difficulty of the obstruction of the roadway and the

difficulty of providing unobstructed space for sheds might

all be overcome if arrangements could be made for throwing

into the A.O.D. the area hatched blue on the accompanying

plan, the area hatched red near the entrance and the building marked "Army" and hatched green (which is in fact

a naval building).

The Government representatives pointed out that

inasmuch as the Government expected to receive the area
