The new species is well-characterised by the number of setæ at its anterior end, the shape of the pharynx and the presence of three small teeth. It is named after Ginling College, Nanking.
Monhystera filiformis var. fukienensis n. var,
(Pl. II, Figs. 8-10).
Diagnosis: Characters of M. filiformis Bastian, 1865, but the new variety has eight submedial setæ at the anterior end.

Two females, Changchow, bath-house, wall of the well 13 feet above the water; water temperature 48.5° C.

Length: 0.47 (0.46-0.48) mm.

Cuticle smooth. The anterior end with six papillæ and eight sub- medial and two lateral setæ. The mouth cavity is small without teeth or other special structures. The circular amphids are located a distance of about twice the diameter of the anterior end behind the mouth opening. The nerve ring encircles the middle of the œsophagus. The latter increases gradually in diameter towards its proximal end. One straight ovary; uterus with one large egg.
Vulva behind the middle of the body. The rectum is short, the spinneret a short tubular outlet.

Eight females, Changchow, one spring. From the wall of the well five feet above the surface of the water. Water temperature 39° C.

The cuticle has a fine transverse striation, we did not find lateral membranes as described by de Man. The amphids are oval and posteriad upen.
