The domination of American cultural standards in China has
been stimulated:-
1. By the existence of numerous American schools of higher
learning:-

These Institutions supported by numerous American schools have given a strong bias towards American ideals and encouraged the
flow of students towards U.S.A.
Chinese students have been drawn towards U.S.A. also
because that country is nearer and therefore cheaper to reach; courses are not so expensive as in England. The standards being lower, a degree which is much coveted is more easily obtained.
China also finds the economic model in U.S.A. because the latter
country has mastered the methods of producing greater wealth than
other nations and China, the poorest country in the world wishes
to be like America which is the richest. These factors predispos-
ing young China towards U.S.A. for Education enlightenment have been supported by the traditional good will of America towards the young republic, and by the common political antagonism towards
Japan.
Moreover America's high regard for, and generous provision
for higher education in China exactly fits in with the Chinese.
attitude towards scholarship. The highly educated man is an ideal
which China has always held in highest respect.
A further influence which has determined the present
condition has been the strong sympathy which U.S.A. has always
shown for young China, this being due to the fact that America as
a nation is by tradition in revolt against the political, social,
ecclesiastical
