Of Mare, to do
Sir,
GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

I have the honour to refer to my confidential
despatch of the 24th of June, 1931, and to forward a
copy of a letter addressed by Sir William Hornell to
the Board of Trustees for the Administration of the
Boxer Indemnity Fund, tendering his resignation from
the Board.
2.
Sir William consulted me in this matter in my
capacity as Chancellor of the University, and I entirely
agree with him that it is impossible for him to be
absent so frequently from his duties as Vice-Chancellor
without damaging the interests of the University.
3.
Apart from this, I cannot but feel that the
Board of Trustees, as at present constituted, is very
unsatisfactory, but I have dealt with this matter in my
despatch No.530 of the 22nd of December, 1931.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
Line
Governor, &c.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
SIR P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER, G.B.E., M.C., M.F.,
