REPORT ON ORDINANCE No

of 193 2.
1. I have examined the accompanying Ordinance. intituled an
Ordinance to consolidate and amend the law relating to the
establishment and regulation of the Police Force, and I am
of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary
to the Governor's instructions.
2.
This Ordinance consolidates and to some extent amends
the law for the establishment and regulation of the Hong
Kong Police Force.
A Table of Correspondence is attached
which indicates the source of each section and the nature
of the various amendments.
3.
Section 7 dealing with compulsory retirement for
inefficiency or age is substituted for section 14 of the principal Ordinance which dealt with compulsory resignation
for ill health.
4.
Section 16, as substituted by No. 18 of 1929, has been
omitted, and a general power in the Inspector General to make regulations governing leave and passages for subordinate
members of the force and members of the civilian staff has
been added to (new) section 12.
