Accounting Machines for Hong Kong.
Having discussed with Mr.Barton our inspection
of the proposed machines at the suppliers' offices and
subsequently at the Barking Boro' offices, I have to
request that the following telegram be sent to the Colonial
Secretary Hong Kong:-
"Accounting machines. Tratman & Barton recommend "purchase of two machines costing each "approximately £600. Desirable that order "be placed early in order that Barton may "supervise details of specification.May we order? "If so, state whether Hong Kong electric current "direct or alternating and exact voltage".
In the event of a favourable answer from Hong Kong
please communicate direct with Mr.Barton who will be able
to give you the details of the specification agreed between
us.

Our inspection of the Barking machine was so
satisfactory and exhaustive that it will not be necessary
for either of us to visit the Sheffield Treasury. I shall
be glad therefore if you will so inform the Treasurer of that
City and convey to him our thanks for his offer of assistance.
Yours faithfully,
(sd) D. W. Tratman.
