16. Officers on leave in the United Kingdom who are taken ill so as to require medical attention, and remain ill for a week, must report the fact to the Colonial Office, and, at the same time, forward a certificate from their medical attendant stating the nature of the illness, and, if possible,
its probable duration.
On receipt of this certificate in the Colonial Office it will be decided according to the circumstances whether or not the officer should be sent for examination by one of the Consulting Physicians to the Colonial Office, or whether he should be required to forward further periodical reports
until he has recovered.
16.A. An officer on leave in the United Kingdom who desires an extension of leave beyond the period allowed by his leave certificate must apply to the Secretary of State in sufficient time if practicable to allow of reference to the Colony. In cases where it is necessary to refer by telegraph the applic- ant will be required to refund the cost of the telegrams.
(3) HALF PAY LEAVE.
16.B. Officers of this Class will not be eligible for
half pay leave unless in the opinion of the Governor special
circumstances render it necessary; provided that any such
leave shall not exceed in the aggregate a period of six
months on half pay.
(4) CASUAL LEAVE.
17.(a) An officer of this Class, other than an educational
officer or a member of the Police Force may, if he can con-
veniently be spared from his duties, be granted short periods
of casual leave up to a total of fifteen days in respect of
